Limestone Coast

State South Australia

The Limestone Coast is a registered zone in accordance with the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Geographic Indications.  The Limestone Coast is commonly referred to as the “south east” of South Australia and begins on Young Husband Peninsula in the north western corner and finishes at the Victorian border in the south eastern most tip of South Australia.

The viticultural zone includes five regions:
  • Coonawarra;
  • Wrattonbully;
  • Padthaway;
  • Mount Benson;
  • Robe.
The region has a long grape growing history due to its mild maritime climate, productive well drained soils, reliable rainfall and plentiful underground water supplies.
