Rutherglen
State Victoria
The Rutherglen region is located in North-East Victoria, near the banks of the Murray River.
The township was established in the 1850's during the Gold Rush, and still has the "old-style" charm.
The region sits at an elevation of between 150 and 250 metres and is relatively flat, with alluvial soils. The climate is warm and dry. The Rutherglen regionis the home of many boutique wineries.
Muscats and Topaque fortifieds are what this region is famous for.
